Japanese automotive seat manufacturer to open plant in Ontario

Toronto, Ontario – Automotive interior manufacturer Toyota Boshoku Corporation has announced it will build a new manufacturing plant in Woodstock, Ontario. The company will produce seats, door trim and carpet parts for the Toyota RAV4, which will be built in Toyota’s new plant in Woodstock, Ontario. The Toyota plant will begin operations in 2008.

The Toyota Boshoku plant represents a $65 million investment and is expected to produce 150,000 vehicle units per year and create 330 jobs.

“Toyota Boshoku is very pleased to locate a new manufacturing facility in Canada to supply Toyota’s new RAV4 plant,” said Dr. Shuhei Toyoda, President of Toyota Boshoku. “We look forward to working with the province’s skilled workforce to build a successful partnership as we together build and operate this new facility.”

“This new investment is one more vote of confidence in Ontario and our
skilled and talented workforce,” said Ontario Economic Development
and Trade Minister Joseph Cordiano at the announcement. “We worked very hard to bring the new Toyota plant to Woodstock and now we’re seeing the wider benefits come into play.”
