Interest in SUVs and pickup trucks increases, CarMax says
Richmond, Virginia – Online used car retailer CarMax Inc. reports an increase in online searches for SUVs and pickup trucks, which it attests to a recent decrease in gas prices and the approach of winter weather.
“One of the ways we gauge consumers’ interest in sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks is by monitoring the search activity on our Web site,” says CarMax president and CEO Tom Folliard. “We’ve seen a resurgence in interest in vehicles such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford F-150 and Ford Expedition, all of which climbed in popularity based on searches on the CarMax.com Web site in September. However, cars such as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry continue to remain popular, as indicated by their top rankings in CarMax.com search activity.”
The 20 most popular vehicle searches in September, in order, were for the Honda Accord, Ford Mustang, Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford F-150, Nissan Maxima, Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Altima, Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Corvette, Infiniti G35, Volkswagen Jetta, Ford Explorer, Nissan 350Z, Ford Expedition, and Chevrolet Silverado.
