Not-for-profit team aims to raise awareness, money for Support Our Paras charity
Infiniti will be joining the British Touring Car Championship next year with a pair of factory-backed race-prepped Infiniti Q50 sedans. However, the cars will not be laden with typical corporate sponsorship logos like its competition.
The new team is called ‘Support Our Paras Racing’ and its aim is to raise awareness and funds to help injured paratroopers in the British military. The team itself will consist of a number of injured servicemen who will work lockstep to prep the Infiniti Q50 race cars over the season.
The ultimate goal is not just to bring injured paratroopers into the team, but also put one in the race seat, though that’s a long term goal.
Until then, the Q50 racers will be piloted by Richard Hawken and Derek Palmer Jr.
“We’ve set ourselves a number of significant, but achievable targets,” Team Principal Derek Palmer stated.
“Of course we are aware of the challenges ahead of us, but with the united forces of The Paras and Infiniti, we believe we have the power to deliver results in the BTCC.”
All profits generated by the Infiniti Support Our Paras Racing Team will be donated to the ‘Support Our Paras’ charity.
