Yonkers, New York – The redesigned Infiniti M37 remains the top-rated midsize luxury sedan with Consumer Reports, after posting an “Excellent” score in the magazine’s test of three luxury cars.
The test group also included the redesigned BMW 5 Series and Hyundai Genesis V8, both of which posted “Excellent” scores. The magazine said that the 5 Series “was luxurious and quick, as well as surprisingly fuel efficient, but has lost some of its agility,” while the Genesis “is the bargain of the group, costing thousands less than any of its six-cylinder-powered competitors.”
While both the M37 and Genesis are rated “Recommended,” the 5 Series is too new for reliability data. Consumer Reports only recommends vehicles that have performed well in its tests, have at least average predicted reliability based on a survey of subscribers, and performed at least adequately if crash-tested or included in a government rollover test.
The luxury cars will appear in the November issue, which also includes reviews of the new Mustang GT, which received “Excellent” scores for the coupe and “Very Good” for the convertible models.
