The G37 replacement Q50 won’t really replace the G37, at least not until the end of the year.
When the new Q50 goes on sale this summer with an MSRP of $37,500, Infiniti may not be kicking the G37 out of the house right away. Instead, it could live on until at least the end of the year and possibly longer.
“With the excitement building for the all-new Q50 sports sedan, Infiniti is currently evaluating a potential two-tiered approach to providing our customers with the luxury sedan that is right for them,” explained Wendy Durward, Director of Infiniti Canada via email. “However, no decision has been made at this time for Canada.”
The new Q50 is meant to replace the aging G37 but will have a significantly cheaper price tag than the outgoing model. Prices for the current G37 sedan start at $43,950.
How the G37 will continue to fit into the lineup is unclear with the Q50 expected to pick up the majority of entry-level sales. Also, it’s unknown whether the G37 will take a serious dip in price to be below the Q50 sedan.
The G37 Coupe and Convertible will continue on as the 2014 Q60.
