Impala SS to return in 2003
Detroit, Michigan – Automotive News, a weekly auto industry magazine, reports that the Impala SS nameplate will return in mid 2003 as a 2004 model.
The previous Impala SS, which was discontinued in 1997, was a performance version of the full-size, rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Caprice – the new Impala SS will be based on the mid-size, front-wheel-drive Impala sedan which is built in Oshawa, Ontario. Automotive News reports that the Impala SS will have GM’s supercharged 3.8 litre V6 engine which develops 240 horsepower in its current form.
