Nova Scotia woman escapes serious injury as ice from vehicle ahead smashes through windshield

If there was one reason to stay well back from vehicles ahead of you and clear snow from your own vehicle in winter, this is it.

The Chronicle Herald reports Nova Scotia resident Amanda Payne, while driving her Honda along Highway 102 near Stanfield International Airport (Halifax), was following a bus when the unlikely happened.

A large chunk of ice dislodged from the bus, went flying through the air, and came through her windshield. Payne was about 35 to 60 meters behind the school bus at the time.

Other motorists came to Payne’s aid while another chased down the bus to alert its driver.

While Payne was lucky enough to escape serious injury, she did receive some minor bumps and cuts from ice and shattered glass.
