Toronto, Ontario – Hyundai grabbed the top sales spot in May for passenger cars, while the Ford F-Series continued its reign among light trucks, according to industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers.

Canadians purchased a total of 69,402 passenger cars and 79,632 light trucks in May.

The top ten best-selling cars in May were, in order, the Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic, Mazda3, Chevrolet Cruze, Volkswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia Forte.

Year-to-date to the end of May, the top ten were the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Cruze, Mazda3, Volkswagen Jetta, Ford Focus, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Sonata and Ford Fusion.

The top ten best-selling light trucks in May were, in order, the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Ram, Ford Escape, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Journey, Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevrolet Equinox and Honda CR-V.

Year-to-date to the end of May, the top were the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, Dodge Ram, Ford Escape, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Journey, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota RAV4.
