First plug-in hybrid to launch next year
Hyundai has officially taken the wraps off its Sonata Hybrid in Seoul sporting styling closer to the gasoline-only model.
In the past, the Sonata Hybrid has differentiated from the conventional sedan with styling tweaks such as unique fascia treatments.
While Canadian details aren’t currently available, the Sonata Hybrid will be powered by 2.0L GDI four-cylinder engine paired with a 38 kW electric motor. Power will still be delivered to the front wheels by way of a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Sonata Hybrid’s battery has been upgraded with extra capacity, from 1.43 kWh to 1.62 kWh.
We will have more information on the new model, along with a possible plugin model for the Canadian market, when details are released by Hyundai Canada.
