Hyundai replaces wounded soldier’s vehicle
Markham, Ontario – Hyundai Auto Canada has followed up on its promise to replace a wounded soldier’s vehicle with a 2006 Santa Fe. Master Corporal Paul Franklin, who lost both legs below the knee in a suicide car bombing in Afghanistan, took delivery of his vehicle yesterday.
Franklin owned a 2003 Santa Fe with manual transmission, which he purchased new from Northstar Hyundai in Edmonton. On January 25, Hyundai President and CEO Steve Kelleher announced that the company would exchange the 2003 with a brand-new 2006 Santa Fe with automatic transmission, at no charge. Hyundai then arranged for the vehicle to be outfitted with manual hand controls from Shoppers Home Healthcare.
Franklin, his wife Audra and six-year-old son Simon took delivery of the new vehicle at Northstar Hyundai yesterday.
