Arlington, Virginia – The Hyundai Genesis and Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans have earned 2010 Top Safety Pick awards from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The award recognizes vehicles that have earned the top rating of “good” for front, side, rollover and rear crash protection, and which have electronic stability control.

The Genesis, introduced in the 2009 model year, received changes to its roof structure to improve protection in rollover crashes for the 2010 model year. The Top Safety Pick applies to Genesis models built after January 2010.

The E-Class was redesigned for the 2010 model year and marks the first time the  E-Class has earned the award. Earlier this year, design changes were made to the padding in the front and rear doors to improve protection in side impact crashes. The Top Safety Pick applies to vehicles built after March 2010.
