Hyundai Elantra is China’s best-selling sedan

Markham, Ontario – A local version of the Hyundai Elantra, built in Beijing and modified to the requirements of Chinese customers, reached 167,000 registrations in 2005 and is China’s best-selling sedan.

China’s new-vehicle registrations reached almost 3.8 million in 2005, a 19 per cent increase compared to 2004. In November 2004, Beijing Hyundai increased its sales by 244 per cent over the previous year to become China’s leading automaker. It is also the only automobile manufacturer located in Beijing, and is currently constructing a second production facility with an annual manufacturing capacity of 300,000 automobiles and commercial vehicles.
