Hyundai Auto Canada reports more big sales increases
Markham, Ontario – Hyundai Auto Canada completed the first quarter of 2002 with strong vehicle sales increases. Year-to date vehicle sales for 2002 have reached 12,856 compared to 10,722 in 2001. On a monthly comparison, March 2002 posted an increase of 15% over last year, as sales reached 5,485 units.
The Elantra continues to fuel these increases, as sales for the month of March were up 14%, and up 53% year-to-date. Santa Fe sales rocketed in March, as sales were up 117% over last year, and year-to-date it has posted an increase of 82%. The new Sonata also experienced significant growth with year-to-date sales of 1,701 vehicles. This represents a 26% increase over last year’s figures.
“We are very happy with the 2002 sales figures to date, in particular the Santa Fe sales,” said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO. “This vehicle has posted very impressive sales numbers since the beginning of the year, and has ensured that Hyundai is now on the shopping list of consumers looking at purchasing a sport utility vehicle”.
Hyundai’s models include the Elantra sedan and 5-door GT, Tiburon sports coupe, Sonata, Santa Fe Sport Utility Vehicle, and XG350 luxury sedan. Hyundai has 155 dealers in Canada.
