Markham, Ontario – Hyundai Auto Canada has announced that its all-new premium sedan, the 2009 Genesis, will start at $37,995 with a V6 engine and $43,995 for a V8. The Genesis is the company’s first rear-wheel drive performance sedan.
“This is a luxury car without a luxury price,” said John Vernile, vice-president, sales and marketing. “With the 2009 Genesis, we wanted to demonstrate that Hyundai can offer all the quality consumers demand from a vehicle today, all the equipment they deserve, and all the power they could want. We are proud to offer a vehicle with the amenities, driving character and performance people would expect from Japanese or European luxury vehicles at a more motivating price. With this pricing, the Genesis will make a premium driving experience accessible to a wide range of deserving customers.”
The 2009 Genesis is available with a 290-horsepower 3.8-litre V6 or Hyundai’s first-ever 4.6-litre V8 producing an estimated 375 horsepower on premium fuel and 368 horsepower on regular, while offering fuel economy of 12.6 L/100 km in the city and 8.1 L/100 on the highway. The company said that with its competitive packaging, the entry-level model is better-equipped and better-priced than the base Infiniti G35.
All 3.8-litre models include a six-speed automatic transmission, automatic light control, fog lights, side and curtain airbags, electronic stability control, front electronic active head restraints, dual-zone automatic climate control, six-CD/MP3 stereo, pushbutton start, auto-dimming rearview mirror and garage door opener.
The V8 model includes a limited-slip rear differential, sunroof, auto-levelling Xenon headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, parking assist sensors, leather-wrapped dashboard, auto-dimming side mirrors, and electric hydraulic power steering.
