New York, New York – Dick Colliver, executive vice-president of American Honda Motor Company, has received the prestigious Founder’s Award from J.D. Power and Associates for his outstanding commitment to customer service in the automotive industry.

The award was presented by J.D. Power III, founder of J.D. Power and Associates, during the Wall Street Automotive Awards Dinner in New York on Tuesday.

A discretionary award presented periodically, the Founder’s Award recognizes individuals or companies demonstrating dedication, commitment and sustained improvement in serving customers. Only 19 companies or individuals have previously received the award in the 40-year history of J.D. Power and Associates.

“Dick Colliver truly represents the dedication to continuous improvement, integrity and customer focus that the Founder’s Award signifies,” Power said. “His leadership and focus on customer satisfaction have helped contribute to the strength of Honda and Acura, two of the most respected brands in the world.”

Colliver joined Honda as senior vice president of the Honda Automobile Division in 1993 and was promoted to executive vice president in July 1997; under his leadership, the division has set sales records each year, and Honda and Acura dealers are among the most profitable in the automotive industry. Prior to Honda, Colliver worked for more than 20 years with Mazda Motors of America, along with a variety of sales and marketing positions with General Motors and Chrysler.
