Tokyo, Japan – Honda Motor Company has unveiled the all-new, completely redesigned Fit, which will go on sale in Japan later this month. The redesign marks the second generation of the subcompact, which is also sold in global markets under the name Jazz.
The new model has a longer wheelbase and wider track, with the front pillar moved forward for a more spacious interior. A new 1.3-litre engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission and produces 73kW (98 hp). A new addition to the line-up is the Road Sailing (RS) version, with 1.5-litre engine, sport suspension and enhanced styling.
The Fit was first introduced in Japan in June 2001 and is now produced in six factories in five countries, and sold in approximately 115 countries worldwide. Cumulative sales are more than two million units. It was introduced to Canada in model-year 2007.
