Honda to trim minivan and SUV production in U.S. plant

Lincoln, Alabama – Honda Motor has said that it intends to reduce production at its minivan and SUV factory in Lincoln, Alabama from April to December, due to falling demand caused by rising gasoline prices.

The plant, which produces the Odyssey minivan and Pilot SUV, has an output capacity of 300,000 vehicles, which will be reduced by 27,000, or nine per cent. The company says there will be no workforce reductions and that it is not reducing its 2006 sales target of 1.51 million new vehicles in the U.S.
