Toronto, Ontario – Honda will recall 14,640 Fit vehicles in Canada, model years 2009 and 2010, to replace the lost motion springs, which are components within the engine’s valve train. The springs, which are compressed by the rocker arms in normal engine use, may bend or break over time, resulting in abnormal engine noise and potential engine stalling or damage.

The company said that there have been no reported crashes or injuries related to the issue in Canada.

Customers of affected vehicles will receive notice by mail beginning in early March 2011. Honda is encouraging all such owners to take their vehicles to authorized dealers as soon as they receive notification.

To determine if a vehicle requires repair, call Honda at 1-888-946-6329.
