Toronto, Ontario – Honda Canada will recall certain 2011 Pilot models to prevent potential front suspension failure. The recall affects 442 vehicles in Canada. The recall also affects certain 2010 and 2011 Accord models in the U.S., but does not affect any Accord models sold in Canada.
A potential problem with the machinery used to tighten the spindle nuts on the front axles and the damper attachment bracket bolts may cause the front suspension of a small number of Pilots to fail. An error in the software for the equipment used for this assembly process was identified at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama and is isolated to vehicles produced at that facility.
Owners of affected vehicles will receive notification in late December, asking them to take the vehicles to a Honda dealer for inspection. If necessary, the dealer will replace the spindle nuts and front damper attachment bracket bolts.
