Toronto, Ontario – Honda Canada has been named one of Canada’s “Fifty Most Responsible Corporations” in the Jantzi-Maclean’s Corporate Responsibility Report 2009, which appears on Maclean’s magazine.
Honda was the only major automaker to be named to the list, which also included Petro-Canada, Suncor Energy, and Zenn Motor Company.
Jantzi Research Associates, an independent investment research firm, evaluates and monitors the social, environmental and governance performance of approximately 300 Canadian companies and income trusts. The firm said that it selects on the basis of a broad range of social, environmental and governance indicators, and that the 50 companies named are “making Canada a better place.”
Honda initiatives mentioned in the report include the 2010 Insight hybrid, the FCX Clarity hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the “Eco-Assist” driver system in the Insight, and Honda Soltec Company, a Japan-based Honda subsidiary which is developing a line of ultra-thin, non-silicone solar cells for home and vehicle use.
