Tokyo, Japan – Honda Motor Company began leasing the FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle in Japan, with the first delivery made to the Ministry of the Environment. The company has leased the vehicle in the U.S. since July 2008.
The FCX Clarity lease followed the completed lease of the FCX fuel cell vehicle, predecessor to the FCX Clarity, to the ministry. Initially, Honda plans to lease the vehicle in Japan only to government agencies and certain corporate entities.
The FCX Clarity uses the Honda V Flow fuel cell stack and emits no CO2 when operating. The combined sales plan for Japan and the U.S. calls for about 200 vehicles within three years.
