To celebrate their re-entry to F1, Honda recreates a special moment in F1 history.
Honda, who recently left Formula 1 only to have the remnants of their team pick up a championship, will be coming back to the sport as an engine supplier in 2015 with McLaren. To celebrate, Honda of Japan looks back at Senna’s record-setting lap at Suzuki in 1989 in a video called “Sound of Honda”.
Using telemetry from the lap, on-board sound pumped through hundreds of networked speakers, and a long series of lights on the track, Honda recreated the fast lap at night to an onlooking crowd.
The 1989 lap was completed in a McLaren-Honda MP4/5 powered by Honda’s then-new 3.5L V10.
