Richmond Hill, Ontario – The Honda Civic and the Ford F-Series were the best-selling car and light truck in Canada in April, according to industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers.
The F-Series has almost a two-to-one lead over the Dodge Caravan as the best-selling light truck in year-to-date sales, DesRosiers reported.
“What’s amazing to me is how almost every segment is down by double digits this year with the exception of small vans,” DesRosiers said. “Even subcompact and compact cars are performing below the market trend. The entire market is down 20.5 per cent year-to-date and almost all the segments are down by similar margins, give or take a few percentage points. Usually there are a few hot segments that dominate the market and defy gravity. This is certainly not the case this year.”
The top ten best-selling cars in Canada in April were, in order, the Honda Civic, Mazda3, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Hyundai Accent, Chevrolet Cobalt, Toyota Camry, Ford Focus, and Nissan Versa.
Year-to-date to the end of April, the top ten were the Honda Civic, Mazda3, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Versa, Ford Focus, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Matrix.
The top ten best-selling light trucks in Canada in April were, in order, the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, GMC Sierra, Pontiac Montana SV6, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Uplander, Dodge Ram, Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, and Hyundai Santa Fe.
Year-to-date to the end of April, the top ten were the Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford Escape, Dodge Ram, Chevrolet Uplander, Toyota RAV4, Pontiac Montana SV6, and Hyundai Santa Fe.
