Honda Civic and Ford F-Series top sales in September

Richmond Hill, Ontario – The Honda Civic tops the passenger car list for September sales, while the Ford F-Series pickup trucks edged out the Dodge Caravan for the top truck spot, according to figures released by industry analyst Dennis DesRosiers.
DesRosiers reports that the market was very strong in September, up 9.3 per cent, and with the exception of the Malibu and Camry, all passenger cars were entry-level products. “The consumer continues to abandon the mid-sized segments and move towards entry-level vehicles first, and larger vehicles second,” DesRosiers says. “Consumer purchases of entry-level vehicles is approaching 55 per cent of the market this year.”
The top ten best-selling passenger cars in Canada in September 2006 were, in order, Honda Civic, Mazda3, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris, Toyota Camry, Chevrolet Cobalt, Chevrolet Malibu, Toyota Matrix, Pontiac Pursuit and Dodge Caliber.
The top ten light trucks, in order, were Ford F-Series, Dodge Caravan, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram, Honda Odyssey, Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Ford Escape/Escape Hybrid.
