Los Angeles, California – American Honda Motor Company has announced the one-year anniversary of the world’s first lease of a hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicle to an individual retail customer. The vehicle was leased to the Spallino family of Los Angeles for a two-year period.

The Honda FCX is used by the family for everyday activities, while providing Honda with real-world feedback on the expectations and requirements needed to advance the technology. The family uses California’s first hydrogen stations, part of a planned statewide network known as the “Hydrogen Highway”. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger made the commitment to build the network in 2005, creating a private and public partnership to complete it by 2010.
