Markham, Ontario – Honda Canada Inc. has conducted a ceremonial groundbreaking to commemorate the start of construction for a new head office campus in Markham, Ontario, north of Toronto.

The new campus will be located on 53.3 acres fronting Highway 404, just north of Elgin Mills Road. The company has a tentative move-in date of summer 2009.

“Today we are celebrating more than just the construction of new buildings,” says Hiroshi Kobayashi, President and CEO of Honda Canada Inc. “We are celebrating our continuing commitment to Canada. Our new campus is not just about buildings of steel and glass, it is about building for the future and about creating an environment where Honda associates can grow and thrive in order to better serve our customers.”

The campus will feature three separate but interconnected buildings, including a four-storey head office, a technical centre that will accommodate research and development, engineering and training, and a one-storey parts distribution centre. The head office is being designed to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified.
