Honda begins all-new Civic production at Canadian plant
Alliston, Ontario – The all-new 2006 Honda Civic began rolling off the assembly line yesterday at the Honda of Canada manufacturing plant in Alliston, Ontario. All Civic coupe and Si models for the global market will be manufactured exclusively at the facility. Civic sedan models for the Canadian market will also be produced at the Ontario plant.
The plant, which represents a total investment of approximately $2 billion, began production in 1986. Honda was the first Japanese carmaker to manufacture passenger vehicles in Canada, and is now the country’s third-largest vehicle manufacturer. To date, more than 3.5 million cars and trucks have been built by Honda in Canada, including more than two million Civics. In the past seven consecutive years, the Civic has been Canada’s best-selling car.
