Toronto, Ontario – Honda will recall 24,680 Odyssey and 4,137 Element models from model years 2007 and 2008 in Canada to modify the vehicle stability assist modulator. The recall is in response to customer complaints of brake pedals that feel soft or that gradually get closer to the floor before the vehicle stops.

In affected vehicles, the condition tends to slowly increase over time. There have been no confirmed crashes in Canada resulting from the situation.

Some anti-lock brake (ABS) modulators were assembled in a manner that could allow air to enter during the self-check mode. While only a minuscule amount of air can enter the system during each check, the air will accumulate over a period of months or years, resulting in the soft or low brake pedal condition symptoms.

Customers are asked to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification from Honda, which will begin at the end of April. Owners can call 1-888-946-6329 to determine if their vehicles are affected by the recall.
