Honda announces development of world’s first electric power steering for ATVs

Torrance, California – American Honda has announced that Honda R&D in Japan has developed the world’s first electric power steering system for All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The new system monitors steering torque and vehicle speed to adjust the levels of steering assist and feel.

When stopped, or at low speeds, the system requires light steering effort; as speeds increase, the amount of assist is adjusted to provide the appropriate level of feedback. Application on a production ATV is anticipated in the U.S. in the near future.
