Honda announces development of new hybrid system

Toronto, Ontario – Honda Canada will introduce a new “Honda Hybrid System” in the all-new 2006 Civic Hybrid, which will deliver improved performance and increased fuel economy over the current system. The new Hybrid will be available across Canada later this fall.

The new system features a three-stage i-VTEC engine, combined with a significantly more compact and efficient Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system. The new engine achieves an approximate 20 per cent increase in system output over the current engine, while reducing the system size by five per cent and attaining a world-leading level of emissions performance.
