Hole-in-one golfer wins new BMW
Whitby, Ontario – Cindy Antico of Burlington, Ontario won a new BMW Z4 Roadster when she made her first ever hole-in-one Wednesday at the Greystone Ladies Member Guest Day presented by BMW.
Antico, a 15 handicapper, aced the 135 yard sixth hole at ClubLink’s Greystone Golf Club in Milton to become the first Canadian woman to win a car in the eight-year history of the BMW Golf Cup International amateur golf series. Using a 7 iron, Cindy approached the 135-yard hole with confidence, “I knew my seven iron was the right club when I looked at the pin,” remarked Antico when asked why she chose that particular club. “I lined up aiming just left of the pin because I knew the ball would break right when it landed. I hit it solid, then I saw it land, bounce once and into the hole! The perfect shot. And then I just went crazy!”
The event was one of 42 Canadian Qualifying events in the BMW Golf Cup this year, each of which features the all-new 225 horsepower Z4 3.0i Roadster valued at $59,500 as a hole-in-one prize on a designated par 3.
“We are thrilled to have another owner in the BMW family”, said Marc Belcourt, Event Marketing Manager, BMW Group Canada. “Cindy is our second BMW winner since the inception of the Golf Cup program in Canada, the first one taking place in Calgary in 1998”, he added.
The BMW Golf Cup International is the world’s largest annual amateur golf series with 120,000 players participating from 39 countries worldwide. The program is in its eighth year in Canada, and will see more than 4000 golfers compete in the 42 Qualifying events nationwide throughout the summer. Two winners from each Qualifying event are eligible to compete at the BMW Golf Cup Canadian Final, held this September at ClubLink’s Mark O’Meara designed Grandview Golf Course in Huntsville, Ontario. The top two men together with the top female from the Canadian Final will then form the Canadian Team who will travel to the BMW Golf Cup International World Final to be held in Penha Longa, Portugal at the Caesar Park Golf Resort in November.
