At a press conference yesterday to mark its 15th anniversary of business in Canada, the 52-year old tire company unveiled its new winter tire called the Avalanche, a tire designed for harsh winter-driving conditions on Canadian roads.

“While we have built a solid foundation in the winter tire market with Polar Trax and Signet Winter Trax products,” said Rob Keller, Vice-President, Hercules Tire Canada, “now we are preparing to move to the next level by offering advanced winter tire technology at affordable prices for consumers.”

The Avalanche will initially be available in 16 passenger and light truck sizes. New sizes will be added for a total of 83 different tire sizes.

“Avalanche targets North American, Asian and European vehicles. This new winter product is designed for optimum winter traction for severe weather conditions,” said Mr. Keller.

Mr. Keller also announced that Hercules Tire will add two additional distribution centres in Eastern and Western Canada to support its planned expansion into new markets. The company currently holds a six per cent market share in Ontario and four per cent in Atlantic Canada.

Hercules Tire offers a wide selection of commercial and consumer tires and wheels through 350 dealers located in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. The company markets tires under the Hercules brand as well as Dunlop, Goodyear, Kelly and Falken.
