Hamilton and Canadian Tire launch anti-idling campaign
Hamilton, Ontario – The City of Hamilton, Ontario, Councilor David Mitchell and director of Canadian Tire Transportation Neil McKenna have challenged fleet operators across Canada to reduce their idling by 20 per cent by the end of November 2005. Twenty-eight corporations have so far risen to the challenge.
The 2005 Repair Our Air Fleet Challenge encourages private and public-sector fleets across Canada to reduce fuel consumption with better idling practices. Research shows that many fleets idle during 20 to 60 per cent of their operating time, as opposed to the five to 10 per cent of the most efficient fleets.
