Vancouver, British Columbia – A school in Burnaby, British Columbia has won a plug-in hybrid school bus after it was named “Canada’s Greenest School.”
Burnaby North Secondary School received the bus from IC Bus after 16-year-old Jennifer Hoa’s video entry in the Canada’s Greenest School contest took the top prize. The video, Burnaby North: Youth In Action, focused on future leaders having the ability to inspire their school and others in taking “green” initiatives.
The bus, worth about $200,000, is up to 65 per cent more fuel-efficient than a standard school bus and emits up to one-third less in greenhouse gas emissions.
The contest was sponsored by IC Bus and received over 100 submissions from across Canada.
