Goodyear to replace about 200,000 tires

Akron, Ohio – A report by Reuters News Agency on Friday says that Goodyear will replace about 200,000 16-inch Load Range E light truck tires that are typically used on large commuter vans and ambulances.

The U.S. National Highway and Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) has linked 86 vehicle crashes to tread separations of the Load Range E tires. However, the NHTSA is not issuing a recall, and Goodyear is not admitting fault with the tires. Goodyear says the tread separations were due to tire underinflation, overloading, and faulty tire repair.

The replacement program involves 16 inch Load Range E tires made between 1996 and 2000.
