Oshawa, Ontario – General Motors is advising Canadian dealers of the specifications of its plan to reduce its dealer network by about 42 per cent, as outlined on April 27 in its revised operating plan.

The company will identify dealers whose Sales and Service agreement will not be renewed following expiry in October 2010. GM said its goal is to “accomplish this reduction in an orderly, cost-effective and customer-friendly way.”

The company said that due to the unique aspects of the Canadian dealer network, it has focused on key urban markets in an effort to achieve a viable network configuration all across Canada. There are approximately 700 GM dealerships and retailers across the country.
