GM to offer Turn-by-Turn Navigation
Detroit, Michigan – General Motors has announced that for 2007, it will offer more than two million vehicles in Canada and the U.S. with OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation, the first factory-installed, fully-integrated off-board GPS navigation system.
The new OnStar service will be standard for the first year on a number of vehicles, including nearly all Buicks and Cadillacs, and will be available on many other vehicles through an optional package upgrade.
The system allows a consumer to talk to a live advisor, who in turn sends complete step-by-step directions to the customer’s vehicle through the OnStar system. Audio directions are then automatically played through the vehicle’s stereo as needed, triggered by OnStar’s GPS capabilities.
