Oshawa, Ontario – General Motors will recall certain 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX models because of seatbelt buckle anchors that could fail to perform as designed in a crash. The recall affects 13,117 vehicles in Canada.

The company said that no injuries are known to be involved with the conditions.

Certain vehicles were produced with seatbelt buckle anchors with cracks that may contribute to a fracture if the buckle is rotated in a certain way and is subject to peak seatbelt loads during a crash. If the buckle anchor separates, the seatbelt system will no longer restrain the occupant in a secondary impact, increasing the potential for injury.

Customers will be notified on or before January 18 to take their vehicles to dealers to rework the seatbelt at no charge.
