GM promotes Saturn ION with Goo Goo Dolls tour
Detroit, Michigan – General Motors will help launch its new line of Saturn ION small cars by sponsoring a Goo Goo Dolls summer shed tour, with Third Eye Blind and Vanessa Carlton as special guests.
The tour will kick off July 29 at the Cricket Pavilion in Phoenix, Arizona continuing through the middle of September. This is Saturn’s first music tour sponsorship.
“This is an exciting collection of artists, and we’re pleased to take the Saturn ION on the road with them,” said Jill Lajdziak, vice president of Saturn sales, service and marketing. “The tour will help generate awareness among younger buyers that Saturn has designed a product for them.”
The Saturn ION sedan and Quad Coupe – a coupe with two rear access doors – are large-sized small cars. The ION sedan production begins this fall, followed by the Quad Coupe early next year.
The Goo Goo Dolls, released its seventh studio album April 9, 2002 on Warner Bros. Records, titled Gutterflower. The first single “Here Is Gone” was the number one added single on the modern rock, rock, Top 40 and adult alternative charts the first week. The video by Francis Lawrence can be seen both on MTV and VH-1. Gutterflower follows up the band’s multi-platinum release Dizzy Up The Girl, which sold over 5 million copies worldwide and spawned number one hits, such as “Iris” and “Slide.”
