GM Canada introduces new Optra Wagon
Oshawa, Ontario – GM Canada announced the addition of a new wagon to the Chevrolet Optra lineup which also includes a four door sedan and four-door hatchback.
Cathy Mowat, Marketing Manager for Chevrolet small cars, said, “Chevy small car sales are up an incredible 75% for the calendar year to date, and we expect the Optra wagon to bring even more customers to our showrooms.”
The Optra wagon has a maximum capacity of 1,971 litres including the ability to carry 5 adults.
Under the hood, the Optra wagon houses the same 2.0-litre, 16-valve DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine offered in the sedan and hatchback. The engine has 119 horsepower at 5400 rpm and 126
lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm and is rated an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV). The engine is mated to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic. Other features include independent front and rear suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes and dual stage frontal airbags with passenger sensing system.
The Optra wagon will be available in Canada only and will be in dealer showrooms in the fall of 2004. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
