GM and Safe Kids Worldwide win Community Service Award

New York, New York – General Motors has been recognized with the 2006 World Traffic Safety Symposium’s Achievement Award for its ten-year partnership with Safe Kids Worldwide. The award, decided by judges from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and other organizations, noted that countless lives have been saved and injuries prevented as a result of the Safe Kids Buckle Up program.

GM has invested US$50 million as the exclusive funding source of Safe Kids Buckle Up since 1996, and Chevrolet became the lead partner in October 2004. The program teaches parents and caregivers to keep children properly restrained in child safety seats. Child passenger safety experts have examined more than 735,000 seats for proper installation, and have provided more than 300,000 seats to families in need.
