Oshawa, Ontario – General Motors has added 700 employees to support a second shift at its plant in Oshawa, Ontario in preparation for the launch of the Chevrolet Camaro convertible and Buick Regal. The plant currently builds the Camaro coupe.

The Camaro convertible will start production in January, while the Buick Regal will ramp up production in early spring. The new Regal is currently imported from GM’s production facilities in Germany.

The new shift comes just weeks after the addition of a third shift on another assembly line that supports increased production for the Chevrolet Equinox. The two new shifts have secured over 1,300 jobs for Oshawa, recalling all production workers and hiring over 300 new employees.
