German auto magazine readers vote VW Lupo GTI “most sporty car of 2002”
Wolfsburg/Essen, Germany – From 156 candidates, readers of Germany’s “Sport Auto” magazine have chosen the VW Lupo Gti as the “most sporty car of 2002”. The Lupo GTI won the “Small cars” class with a considerable lead over the Mini Cooper and the Peugeot 206 S16.
The Lupo GTI, which has a top speed of 205 km/h, is powered by a 1.6 litre, four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder. Equipped with variable inlet camshaft control, it develops 125 horsepower. Standard equipment on the Lupo GTI are a six-speed manual-shift gearbox and 205/45 R-15 inch tires and alloy wheels. The Lupo GTI is lowered by 20 millimetres, and has flared wheel arches, side skirts and a larger bumper with front spoiler and three air inlets. Its 0 to 100 km/h is 8.2 seconds.
