General Motors to reduce number of ’03 vehicles with standard anti-lock brakes
Detroit, Michigan – General Motors announced that anti-lock brakes will become optional, rather than standard, on some of its 2003 models. Specifically, 82% of GM’s 2003 models will retain ABS as standard equipment versus 90% in 2002.
While ABS will be optional equipment on some base level passenger cars (for example the Chevrolet Cavalier and Pontiac Sunfire), it will be included as standard in up-level models. “This effort puts us more in line with the way our competitors content their vehicles,” said a GM news release. “Our goal is to achieve a better balance between the features and content our customers are willing to pay for and the overall value the vehicle represents.”
The following is a list of 2003 GM vehicles that will have ABS as standard equipment:
Cadillac (all vehicles)
Yukon Denali XL
Saab (all vehicles)
