General Motors to display heritage and future vehicles at Woodward Dream Cruise
Detroit, Michigan – General Motors has announced that it will display vehicles from every era, including the future, at the famous Woodward Dream Cruise, held this year on Saturday, August 19th. The annual event is considered the world’s largest one-day classic car show.
The company will show more than 40 of its classic cars, representing Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Saab, along with the Camaro Concept vehicle. They will be displayed at the Athens Coney Island, on the west side of Woodward south of 14 Mile Road, and the Birmingham Triangle, where Old and New Woodward meet.
Feature vehicles will include a 1931 16-cylinder Cadillac, 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge, 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Racer, turbine-powered Firebird 1 concept car, 1956 Saab Sonett SS, and a replica of the 1954 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe that finished third in class at the 1954 La Carrera Panamericana Mexican road race. This vehicle will be driven in the 2006 version of the race in November. A “sneak preview” of the GM exhibit will be open to the public on Friday, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Camaro will be showcased at the Triangle, and will take part in the 16-mile cruise along Woodward Avenue. For more information on the Dream Cruise, visit www.woodwarddreamcruise.com.
