General Motors sponsors Festival International de Jazz de Montréal
Montreal, Quebec – Some of the world’s greatest jazz performers will entertain at the 2002 Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, June 27 to July 7th. General Motors of Canada is a primary sponsor of the event.
Planned events are expected to attract over 1.5 million jazz lovers to the wide variety of indoor and outdoor venues throughout the City of Montréal.
“The lineup of performers is outstanding and includes a wide variety of artists, such as renowned acoustic jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and his septet as well as African singer Miriam Makeba in concert with Cuban vocalist Omara Portuondo of Buena Vista Social Club,” said Steve O’Reilly, GM of Canada’s Québec Sales Zone Manager.
O’Reilly said that “GM of Canada will continue to play an active role as a Festival sponsor of both indoor and outdoor programming. As a partner of the Friends of the Festival Card fundraising activity, GM offers, as first prize in a draw, the choice of a Cadillac CTS, a GMC Envoy XL, a Chevrolet Venture or a Pontiac Vibe to the winner.
Cardholders will also be able to take advantage of various indoor and outdoor value-added services, including the loan of binoculars and a free, non-alcoholic beverage. GM will also offer all indoor attendees the chance to participate in a contest whose first prize is gift certificate of a few thousand dollars worth of CDs. The second prize is a GM compilation box of CDs, one CD of each Pleins feux General Motors concert series artist.
