General Motors recalls 280,000 Cadillac DeVilles

Detroit, Michigan– General Motors is recalling approximately 280,000 2000-2002 Cadillac DeVille passenger cars to repair seatbelt pre-tensioners that may not function properly in moderate to severe crashes. Pretensioners help the safety belts reduce a person’s forward movement in a moderate to severe frontal crash.

There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to this condition.

Only DeVilles built between May 1999 and May 2002 are affected by this condition.

GM will ask owners of these vehicles to bring them in to their Cadillac dealers for repair. These repairs will be performed at no cost to the customers.
