General Motors ends Envoy XUV production
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – General Motors Corporation is ending production of the Envoy XUV, a five-passenger SUV with a sliding window that turns it into a quasi-pickup truck.
GM had advertised the truck as being useful for carrying tall objects, but it seems that not everyone needed to move refrigerators on a daily basis, and sales were lackluster. The sliding roof is made by Inalfa Roof Systems Inc., which reported that production will cease March 31st, 18 months after it was introduced.
The plant will continue to make seven-passenger versions of the Envoy, including the luxury version Envoy Denali. General Motors reports that the decision will not affect jobs at the Oklahoma City plant.
