General Motors considering sale of Allison Transmission

New York, New York – General Motors has announced that it is looking at “strategic options” related to its Allison Transmission commercial and military operations, including a potential sale of the business. The company says the process is another potential step in its plan to improve liquidity, and that Allison is not central to GM’s mission of “designing, manufacturing and selling cars and light trucks globally.”

Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Allison designs, engineers, manufactures and sells automatic transmission for commercial and military vehicle applications. It has seven plants in Indianapolis and employs 3,400 people.
