Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – General Motors has announced that it has facilitated plans for the addition of three new E85 ethanol fuelling sites in the Pittsburgh area, thanks to a collaborative agreement with VeraSun Energy Corporation, Sheetz Inc. and the state of Pennsylvania.
General Motors began an initiative with VeraSun in February as part of a national U.S. campaign to boost the use and awareness of E85 (85 per cent ethanol and 15 per cent gasoline). The company has over two million E85-capable vehicles currently on the road, but only a small portion of U.S. stations carry the fuel. VeraSun Energy will be supplying its brand of E85 to select Sheetz stores in the Pittsburgh area.
Currently, GM offers nine E85 flexible fuel vehicles: the Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, Avalanche, Impala and Monte Carlo, and GMC Yukon, Yukon XL and Sierra.
